Marina Reckzin, Toronto UX Consultant
I love everything web and, as you can imagine, I spend a good chunk of my day browsing, researching, designing, testing and improving all things web.
I’ve been designing user interfaces for over 12 years now.
When I started, a position for Web User Interface Designer or User Experience Architect didn’t really exist. Instead, you’d get hired as a Web Designer, a position that covered a wide spectrum of skills and knowledge – UI, visual design, coding pages in HTML etc.
Things have changed since that time and now web-related jobs are more specialized, than ever. Same role today can be broken into several positions – User Interface Designer, Information Architect, Usability Expert, Graphic Designer, Web Copywriter, a Front-End Developer, to name a few.
I’ll ll be offering here my opinions on things that interest me professionally‚ User Experience (UX), Information Architecture (IA), User Interface Design (UI), Usability, SEO, Web Best Practices, Project Management and everything Web.
However, I also have a lot of interest in a scientific research, neuroscience and psychology, as those studies give us, designers, some insight into how human mind works. I have to mention though that I am not a scientist, so don’t quote me on that.
Thoughts and opinions expressed here are solely my own.
I also have a personal blog, where I share my thoughts on travel, cooking, dating and other everyday things.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“Nothing is more fatal to the progress of the human mind than to presume that our views of science are ultimate. That our triumphs are complete. That there are no mysteries in Nature and that there are no new worlds to conquer.” ~ Sir Humphry Davy
“Everything you can imagine is real.” ~ Pablo Picasso
“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” ~ George Eliot
“Well-behaved women seldom make history.” ~ Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
“Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” ~ Audrey Hepburn
